For the uninitiated, copper channels versus optical channels on silicon is like comparing a Pontiac Sunfire to a Ford GT. There's just no contest. If it does pan out, Intel will be able to increase processing speed (and decrease heat output) to a point where the super-computers of today won't be able to compete with the Dell clearance specials of 2011. Not to mention the computing power of cell phones being jacked up twenty-fold.
