So I'm peering through today's Picayune, when I happen upon an article lamenting the state of the crawfish crop in Louisiana. The two storms combined to destroy eighty percent of the supply. Yes, 80%! They're predicting wholesale prices of $3 a pound for live (translation to about $4 a pound for you and I), and $30 a pound for processed. $30 a pound?!? Great crimson crustaceans, that's entirely off the scale.
That all translates to this: no crawfish boils this spring. Not to mention the Crawfish Monica at Jazzfest probably being made with Chinese tails.
I'm crushed.
