FUCK it's cold here
Jan. 16th, 2007 10:28 pmHey,
funkerjess, you iced in or what, kid? Dallas news was showing vids of downtown Austin. Nasty shit. Dallas is going to get a blast of snow overnight, but you're getting even more than here. What the hell, man? What sucks is that I can't even do a snow day, because the office is two blocks from the hotel. That's too bad. I've got this mega-jacuzzi-tub in the room. The thought of sleeping in, soaking in that animal for half the day is extremely temping. Instead I'll be driving over and spending the day in a roomful of geeks that are getting pressure from a bunch of executives that have nothing better to do than bitch about numbers I don't have in the spreadsheets.
The guy who does Elmo's voice is on CNBC right now. With Elmo of course. He's really good. I swear there are moments where you swear the two voices are going at the same time. I think Jon Lovitz is on in a bit, too. The segment is called "Million Dollar Voices".
Shit. It's cold.
You know, I'm beginning to remember the crappy side of travelling, far beyond missing home. It's this routine.
Oh, cool. Psych just came on USA. And they're playing Walk Like a Camel by Southern Culture on the Skids. I love this show.
Anyway. The routine. I hate that part. You have just about zero to do other than work. And eat. God knows I don't need to eat, in particular when it's not from home. I'll rephrase that actually. If I was eating at some really fine places every meal, then that would be different. But you know what, that's just not happening. Penny-pinching IT outsourcers don't like to finance adventures in upper-crust dining. You get a pathetically finite allowance each day, barely a respectable amount to explore the epicurean delights of...er...Dallas. Regardless of the location, it's not a ride into Gourmet magazine. Morelike, it's a prat-fall into Taco Bell. It does not help the continued expansion of my belt. A few weeks ago, to combat the holiday food hording, I began a much more modest diet. So now my greens have given way to grease. Bleh. Work. Lousy food. I tell you what though, I had Fuddruckers for lunch and those loaded cheese fries kick fucking ass.
It's still cold.
So you remember that I'm right by the airport? I have a pretty decent room and all, but when I look out the window, I see an ocean of FedEx trailers and planes. Buddy, do they ever wake up early. I've also noticed that DFW airport has a plane taking off every three minutes. Even at three in the morning.
I wish there was a bar in this dump.
Hey! Blues Brothers is on AMC! Later.

Paula Abdrool
Jan. 16th, 2007 11:44 pmOkay. I don't watch that miserable show. No offense if you watch it, but I think it's painful and stupid.
But here's the deal. That moron Paula Abdul was most certainly drunk on the interviews in Seattle and San Francisco. Sounds like she just left the Chart Room and got run over by a cab. Her PA says she was tired. Her bartender says she still hasn't paid her tab.
Who knows? Maybe she finally got that money shot.
And why the fuck am I still awake anyway? Oh yeah. Bored. Blues Brothers.
