black gold, texas tea
May. 18th, 2010 03:52 pmBeing the occasional doom-n-gloomer I've been in the past few weeks, here's some more. All you can eat!
First, and likely the most disgusting news, the death count. Starting with the big picture, the "official" count of dead animals washed up on Gulf beaches. Please note, this number includes no edible fishing population at all:
189 animals have perished since spill started a month ago
And if that upsets you, take a good hard look at the imminent demise of sea turtles in the Gulf. So BP, will this be included in your list of "legitimate" claims?
Dead sea turtles on Gulf of Mexico beaches at triple of past numbers
So, sure, I don't see these animals even on a yearly basis, and I sure don't eat them on my poboys. Still no impact on my everyday, right? How about no fishing in 19% of the Gulf?
Oil fallout: Feds expand Gulf fishing ban
Okay, so a few fisherman are affected. So what? I mean it's not like the stuff is going anywhere fast. Oh, wait:
NOAA: Oil Tendril 'Likely' Headed Into Loop Current
Wait a sec. What's NOAA's opinion on that, again? Because just a day ago they were calling the so-called oil plumes a "premature" evaluation. O RLY?
NOAA skeptical of oil-plume reports
Oh, yeah. The oil's in the loop current baby. Oh, wait, evidence you say? You need to see some hard proof? Here you go, doubt-baggers:
Coast Guard Reports Oil on Beaches in Florida Keys
Had enough, people? Okay, then tell me you're doing something. Tell me you're looking up volunteer opportunities or places to donate for the relief funds or contacting your politicians to clamp down on these guys. Wait, though. It's not all guys, is it? Everyone, please, meet the questionably honorable woman from Alaska, Senator Lisa Murkowski.
Gulf oil spill: Alaska senator blocks move to raise oil spill liability
Who's giving BP the BJ? Hm? Could it beSATAN! Sen Murkowsky?
Whoops. Sorry. Scratch that. Another GOP oil lover needed to be a copycat:
Bill to Raise Oil Spill Cap Rejected Again
Blech. Enough for today. I need to enjoy a nice clean glass of water before I have to degrease my drinking supply with Dawn.
