memories fading to black
May. 31st, 2010 12:43 amCypremort Point is a peninsula in upper Vermillion Bay, south of Lafayette, Louisiana. My father owned a sailboat and moored it at Cypremort Point. Obviously we sailed there but on occasion we'd go down to the Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge to toss out crab nets. It was a pretty righteous experience on the water. By the end of the day, we'd be home with a sunburns, wind-swept hair and a hamper full of crabs. There were regattas and day cruises. Swimming off the boat with my friends and taking super-secret night trips with some super-special girlfriends. I have more than a few wonderful memories of my times in Cypremort Point. In fact, it was soon to be a destination for a summer trip this year, letting the kids fish in those spots I myself haunted as a child.
This is what started washing up at Cypremort Point today:

It's not mud...
Let's just say it now, get it out in the open: the Gulf Coast is already a memory.
PS: Senator Vitter, I hope you keep up this bullshit defense of BP and offshore drilling. It'll be a pleasure voting your sorry ass out of office.
