BP, in all its spin-centric wisdom, is playing semantics with what exactly looms beneath the waves. After NOAA finally announced there were indeed plumes, BP's COO Doug Suttles poo-poohed the notion with, ""We haven’t found any large concentrations of oil under the sea. To my knowledge, no one has." While facing direct questions about the discovery Suttles said, "It may be down to how you define what a plume is here." Sure, Doug. I may not know what a plume is, but I sure know a jackass when I see one.

Some fluff from NBC stating what Gulf Coasters have always known: dere's snakes in dem dere waters! In my personal experience, generations of Penguin family have come to believe the only good snake is a dead snake. Exotic pet owners excluded. I doubt you've got cottonmouths.

Lastly, a local piece about just who BP's "contractors" are bringing in to sop up the mess. To be honest, I don't know why anyone's not stating the real story, that this is the second time illegal immigrants were thrust into a mess. I was surrounded by them when performing recovery work five years ago. I can tell you, without doubt, they'll get used and abused just the same: no warning about the toxins; no training in using proper safety gear; less than minimum wage pay, if they can get paid at all.
