Mo' music

I'm amazed at the amount of music this town is getting lately. That's a sign, people. Get out and rock will ya'?

I found this little gem in my inbox this morning: Henry Rollins at HOB. Tom Jones is playing not too long afterwards. Tom Jones tix are $60!!! I also noticed that the John Mayer show already sold out (damned commercial music fans) and that CKY (!!!) is playing a week before Tom Jones. Dood, CKY!!! Maybe none of it matters since I've got to save up for both Halloween and VoodooFest.

Just thinking out loud. Move along.

1991? Wow, you're old, aren't ya? :P

[identity profile] iamyourghost.livejournal.com 2005-08-09 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I was younger then. Obviously.

I liked him better in Black Flag, anyways.

[identity profile] nawlins-penguin.livejournal.com 2005-08-09 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I find him evenly spread, but Black Flag DID rock.

TV party? Please elaborate.

[identity profile] oh-really-now.livejournal.com 2005-08-09 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a Black Flag song, "TV Party"...

T.V. PARTY TONIGHT
T.V. PARTY TONIGHT
T.V. PARTY TONIGHT
T.V. PARTY TONIGHT

WE'RE GONNA HAVE A T.V. PARTY TONIGHT...ALRIGHT
WE'RE GONNA HAVE A T.V. PARTY ...ALRIGHT...TONIGHT
WE'VE GOT NOTHING BETTER TO DO,
THAN WATCH T.V. AND HAVE A COUPLE OF BREWS

EVERYBODY'S GONNA HANG OUT HERE TONIGHT...ALRIGHT
WE'LL PASS OUT ON THE COUCH ALRIGHT...TONIGHT
WE'VE GOT NOTHING BETTER TO DO,
THAN WATCH T.V. AND HAVE A COUPLE OF BREWS

DON'T TALK ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE...WE DON'T WANT TO KNOW
WE'RE DEDICATED TO OUR FAVORITE SHOWS

WE SIT GLUED TO THE T.V. ALL NIGHT...AND EVERY NIGHT
WHY GO INTO THE OUTSIDE WORLD AT ALL...IT'S SUCH A FRIGHT
WE'VE GOT NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN WATCH T.V. AND
HAVE A COUPLE OF BREWS
T.V. NEWS SHOWS WHAT IT'S LIKE OUT THERE...IT'S A SCARE
YOU CAN GO OUT...IF YOU WANT...WE WOULDN'T DARE!
WE'VE GOT NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN WATCH T.V.
AND HAVE A COUPLE OF BREWS
DON'T TALK ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE...WE DON'T WANT TO KNOW
WE'RE DEDICATED TO OUR FAVORITE SHOWS

I WOULDN'T BE WITHOUT MY T.V. FOR A DAY...OR EVEN A MINUTE!
I DON'T BOTHER TO USE MY BRAIN ANYMORE...
THERE'S NOTHING LEFT IN IT

WAIT A MINUTE MY T.V. SET DOESN'T WORK
IT'S BROKEN!
WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO TONIGHT
THIS ISN'T FAIR
WE'RE HURTIN'!
WE'VE GOT NOTHING LEFT TO DO
LEFT WITH NO T.V. JUST A COUPLE BREWS

WHAT ARE WE GONNA TALK ABOUT...I DON'T KNOW
WE'RE GONNA MISS OUR FAVORITE SHOWS

NO T.V. PARTY TONIGHT.

Unfortunately, all of the lyric searches I did omitted the "JEFFERSONS - MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL" bits. Download it for your own good.

You had me all confused there. Thought there was something on the telly I didn't know about. :P

Ever fix your tribe pics problem?

[identity profile] oh-really-now.livejournal.com 2005-08-09 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup. I turned off ZoneAlarm :-I

[identity profile] revned.livejournal.com 2005-08-09 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
You had to ask?!? You should have your hardcore license revoked.

[identity profile] nawlins-penguin.livejournal.com 2005-08-09 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Guilty.

[identity profile] iamyourghost.livejournal.com 2005-08-09 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Back in the day, my brother and I used to watch underground hardcore skate videos with Black Flag in the background.

This was back when Tony Hawk had just perfected the McTwist. I could barely do an ollie, but I wanted to be Tony Hawk so badly.

Anyways, there was this one video before Mr. Hawk even had his own line of skate gear, he was in it, and one of the montages was to TV Party, showing all these skate rats pounding beer in some basement before skating in a pool.

Memories. Thanks.

(yes, this was around 1995. I now officialy feel old and decrepit)

[identity profile] nawlins-penguin.livejournal.com 2005-08-09 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Bah. I got drawers older than you.

Sorry. Sounds like something a grandpa would say.

[identity profile] iamyourghost.livejournal.com 2005-08-09 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
*looks on the date I have registered with LJ*

Drawers older than 1910? I doubt that. Perhaps the drawer that holds your drawers....

Gramps.

[identity profile] nawlins-penguin.livejournal.com 2005-08-09 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you saying you know what's in my drawers? Cause that's just not right.

[identity profile] iamyourghost.livejournal.com 2005-08-09 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I could hazard a guess.

But I wouldn't know for sure.

just teasing with you. I'm going to go wander off and sing/yell punk songs now.

If I tried to ride a skateboard these days, I would fall and break my leg.

[identity profile] revned.livejournal.com 2005-08-09 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
This was back when Tony Hawk had just perfected the McTwist.

And now he's "Hawking" the joys of PowerAde at McDonald's. Oh, how I envy the sellouts.

[identity profile] iamyourghost.livejournal.com 2005-08-09 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Now I'm wondering if either my brother or I still have that bootleg video somewhere.

It could be worth something!

(we also, quite by chance, own the original first issues of both the comics Sandman and Sin City. We were ahead of the curve.

If I had anything worth selling out, I would do so as well. Maybe next life...

[identity profile] oh-really-now.livejournal.com 2005-08-09 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I was wondering about that...

Hey Chris!

[identity profile] oh-really-now.livejournal.com 2005-08-09 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Memories...

The first time Freddy and I met up was at Aunt Tiki's, a very casual Thursday night. We stayed waaaay late, left around 4 or 5 AM, drinking, doing $10 shots of tequila and watching old skate videos.

Memories, indeed.

Re: Hey Chris!

[identity profile] nawlins-penguin.livejournal.com 2005-08-09 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds like every Thursday night. Except for that meeting someone part. And $10 shots? I didn't know they anything WORTH $10 in there.

[identity profile] mollyf.livejournal.com 2005-08-09 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm old. I remember seeing Black Flag in San Francisco at the On Broadway when Henry was skinny and blonde!
