Continuing my trend of food-related posts...

Last night I picked up Andy and Katy for a trip over to Theo's Pizza uptown. A friend of Katy's husband runs the joint. Good pizza. We had a app that was basically mozzerella and jalepenos in a pistolette. Can I say YUM? Kids had a great time, but they were pretty worn down. Robbie fell asleep on me before we even left the table.

All three of the kids zonked out pretty good last night, affording me another opportunity to catch up on my movies. The Magificent Seven was on tap. Good flick, but Yul Brynner as a Cajun? There's a stretch.

Kids slept late, late, even with the time change. We slowly got it together and ventured to Metairie for three great reasons: Morning Call, Target, and Cane's. Au lait, clearance deals and chicken fingers? What more could I ask for on a Sunday?

Oh, yes, of course. The eat club dinner tonight. I finally got it together to join up for one of the meals. Tonight it's at Bennechin in the Quarter, African fare. Bennechin used to be right down the street on Carrollton. For ten years it sat there and I never found the time to go. Tonight's the night. Foodie report later.

Not much up today other than the unreal beeeeeeyootiful weather. It's 72 and crystal clear. Light breeze, too. Can't last, right? I'll be sweating bullets by Jazzfest.

Oh yeah, that's right. The cubes are up for Jazzfest! Yaaaaay, Jazzfest.

Foooooood.

I think I measured my weekend in food. Tonight was the [livejournal.com profile] nola__eats dinner at Bennachin, an African restaurant in the Quarter. It was good, too. Got to meet a slew of LJers as well, perhaps too many to enumerate here. If any of ya'll read this, bounce a comment back to me.

The staff accomodated us very well, adding another four or five seats to our already room-filling reservation. Service was on the more laid-back side, but that's not to say that's bad. There's like one guy waiting tables and another cooking. That's about it.

I had a #12 for my app (sue me, I don't remember the name) which was smoked fish, black-eye peas and eggplant in a fried shell that reminded me of a crawfish pie. My entree was a #15 (again I forget) which was a stewed beef with a sauce made up of spinach, garlic, ginger, and peanuts, accompanied by plantains and rice. Very good and very filling. Certainly impressive enough to want to try it again.

The group talked about a crawfish boil for the next event, with yours truly as the default coonass head-boiler at point. What can I say? I do love my crevisse. There may be a grilling contingent as well, so you know what that means...

All is quiet in the house tonight. Even ol' rasta-boy is chillin. Maybe he finally left.

LSU Lady Tigers  lost? WTF happened there?
