let us legislate
Dec. 21st, 2005 02:31 pmSo the Senate has knocked down the funding amendment that would have brought $29 billion down to the Gulf coast for hurricane recovery funding. I'm disappointed that our government continues to fiddle-fart around about pouring funding into the region. The administration, and a majority of Congress, would rather push for funding Iraq, already a quarter-trillian dollar debt, than to help out desperate American citizens? That's truly vile.
I thought this bill would help. I did have some really mixed emotions about how it was going to pass, though. It was attached to, big surprise, a funding bill for Iraq. What's worse is that along with the hurricane money was an attachment to allow drilling in the Arctic Wildlife Refuge in Alaska. So we ravage one area of our country's resources in order to rebuild another? Absurd.
I will never understand how politicians live with themselves.
