Feb. 23rd, 2006 11:31 pmMy day has come and gone in a flash, but don't they all.
Small excited voices woke me this morning, eager to push a gift bag in front of me. In it was the Looney Tunes Spotlight Collection, Volume Two, a gift inspired by the guilty pleasures meme last week, thankyouverymuch. In the mix of cartoons is "One Froggy Evening". It was on the TV within ten minutes of my opening the gift. Tracey also spoiled me with a bottle of very yummy Glenfiddich, something I'd never buy for myself.
Pretty much, I did nothing this morning, except for scouting out some major parts upgrades to the Mardi Gras ladder I'm rebuilding. Wait till you see that project.
Lunch, though. Oh, my. Casamento's. Oysters on the half shell. Seafood gumbo. An everything platter that wasn't so much of "everything" but had all the things Tracey and I liked, namely a gazillion fried crab claws and, bar none, the best fried oysters I've ever EVER eaten. Clare, I saw
docbrite a few tables away, but didn't want to bother her at lunch. She was wearing a Bobby Hebert jersey. I thought that was kind of cute.
The in-laws came over in the afternoon to join us for tonight's three parades. We picked up the girls and headed to Theo's for a couple of pizzas. I parked the Herkimer two blocks from St Charles and we walked to the route from dinner. Let me tell you something. My kids? Total bead magnets. In particular Grace, who the ladies of Muses simply adored. I think we got every plush they were throwing this year. I know I've got enough beer coozies to last me till at least Jazzfest.
Now I'm tired, coming down from the buzz, and reading my new Art Deco primer, courtesy of my mother-in-law. The other book she gave me is a fantastic guide to roadside attractions. Did you know the world's largest penguin is in Montana?
Tomorrow the party continues.
