But look here, Mr President: I have a real problem defending you against the onslaught of anger on the Gulf Coast. I have a hint for you, though. Screw that bullshit position on letting BP handle the problem. BP is the problem, sir. Now, the whole boot on the neck thing? That could probably be retired. It's just not working for the red-staters down here. Not that anything you do will make them happy, but they see your approach as trying to shut down Big Oil permanently, and that's even more jobs lost here. They are vilifying you for that. I blame Fox News but you draw your own conclusions.
I digress, sir. Here's my bottom line. You can say what you want about BP having the expertise in capping the well. I have my doubts about that premise, but I'll grant it. However, the rest? The cleanup? The claims? Mr President, you've got to take that from them. You've got to get the money into the hands of these workers, these fisherman. Pump sand into berms, sink barges for the passes, hire Costner to spin his Waterworld centrifuges. Any action from you is better action than BP. If you doubt that, take a good hard look at their cleanup processes. They don't give a hoot about the environment they're already killing.
