700NM Venom

Why do the guys at Neiman-Marcus have all the fun?

Only seven available, for the bargain basement price of $179,500. Is it just me or does it look like a Batmobile?

Is pretty! ^_^

It does look much like the Batmobile.

You know, the picture subtracts size. Vipers are relatively long, so I can't imagine what this monster is like. Spread that wing out in back, pop on a turbine, Bruce Wayne could be burning it up in this ride.

Vipers aren't so much long compared to Dodge's of the past (Challenger, Charger, to name a few), but they probably feel that way with the long hood.

That being said, I want that car to bear my cybernetic children.

I'd like to know what kind of rubber that car is using that will keep 645 ft-lbs on the pavement and not in a gray mist.

Funny you say that. I thought the same thing. But you know the boys at Hennesey probably have Michelin or Pirelli make custom feet for that girl.

Also, I don't consider Challengers and Chargers (in the golden age of Detroit iron) to be short animals. Compared to a 612 Scaglietti or SLR McLaren, a Charger is positively enormous. Relative to MOPAR goodness, I wouldn't expect the Venom to be that much longer.

+1 for teh English on my part- I was trying to say that compared to some of the older Dodges, the Viper comes from a history of big cars. The General Lee era Charger is a fucking beast- I don't think people can really appreciate those river bed jumps until they see the size of that car up close.

I still think the new Chargers should have been two-door. Then again, with the new Challenger and ZOMG Cuda, why bother competing against yourself?

I like the new Challenger, although, on topic here, I find it too short. But the lineage shows through. Just wish they hadn't put a typically vanilla Dodge interior. That ride screams for a dash of turned metal, a shiny shift knob and a rally wheel.

Did you see that episode of Overhaulin' where Gary Dourdan from CSI came in, and they took the body from a '67 Charger and dropped it onto the frame of a 2007 R/T Charger? Then again, you don't just "get" to work for Chip Foose.

AW- another one (albeit Plymouth) we left off the long and strong list- Plymouth Superbird. Now that looks like it could've been another Batmobile. Minus the whole stealthy paint job deal. Holy shit man- do you know what those things are worth these days? "I'd have to sell a kidney for a car like that" isn't just a metaphor.

I lerve me some Superbird. The Wing of the Gods.

No, I missed that episode. I don't get enough Foose time any more. I do, however, get a regular dose of Mythbusters each week.

Blessed Lady of Acceleration, don't fail us now!

Even by today's standards, that thing is fast. The only reason it was even on showroom floors was so they could race it at NASCAR.

I love that show. You did see the one where Kari cut down the tree with the minigun, right?

Other than the hood (don't care much for the oversized slats), that is one beautiful ride... and yeah, my first thought upon seeing it was Caped Crusader. Make mine midnight blue, please.

[identity profile] nawlins-penguin.livejournal.com 2008-03-08 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, deep blue would be nice. The Hennessey Venom was previously shown in black, yellow, red and a hideous black/red/white combo that scared the tar off the road.
