insomnia versus ambien, round eleventy-five

So I'm staring at the ceiling, watching the whirling shadows of the fan blades dance in the light of my lava lamp. There is no sleep to be had here.

My mind turns a few things over and sideways. Usually this would be an ideal time for a belt, but alas, the new chemical additives don't like alcohol. No can do.

So I'm thinking about this and that.

I wonder how long the ambien will take to work.

I'm thinking about having to set up eighteen workstations in a mini-LAN just to support a two-day class at the plant.

I'm wondering how many trips I'm going to make to the sushi buffet on Canal St before I have that "bad sushi" thing happen to me.

I'm thinking about someone I met recently and how piercingly blue their eyes were. I'm talking unreal azure.

I'm boggled at how the Lady Tigers could have lost to Baylor.

I'm lamenting that Lil Ray's diner changed the menu yet again and took my guaca-burger off the sandwich list. Beeeetches. The "not-nacho" fries, too. Double beeeeeeeeetches.

I wonder how much that art deco glassfront building is on the corner. Great spot for a bookstore.

Speaking of art deco, I just remembered a new one I found, an old school I think, now converted to a church, just a few blocks down on Jeff Davis. I gotta get pictures of that place.

I reckon how long it will take for my loser neighbor to move the hell out and get lost for good.

I wonder if I'll ever find a Linux driver for this Dlink wireless card.

Should I buy a dog? Or a fish? Or just a bottle of Cab?

Bah.

Silliness, all and every.

i'd suggest that you buy a little songbird, except you're a man and probably wouldn't go for that.

Yes, a songbird would be very nice. Interesting suggestion, thank you.

You know full-well you can't handle a dog. Not right now.

Fish. If anything.

Good luck with everything.

My leaning is towards the Cabernet at this point.

Can't help with anything but the wireless driver.

ndiswrapper should be your friend. It has very good installation instructions (short, sweet and to the point).

This page (http://www.ndeepak.info/stuff/linux/wlansarge.php) is an example of getting ndiswrapper set up, and it has links to the ndiswrapper sourceforge page.

Just in case you haven't run into it yet:

The wireless interface is probably named wlan0
If the vendor is cooperative and the drivers can support it, the iwspy command will let you snoop the interface
To find available wireless access points from the command line, use the "iwlist scanning" command

You're my hero. Thanks.

I couldn't think of Sourceforge. I'm losing it.
